Vermont Street
A substantial renovation of the lower level of this San Francisco residence is complicated by a steep up sloping lot. To bring light into the space, a carefully scaled lightwell has been carved into the hillside, with a lush garden providing the basin for delicate climbing vines that reach up the board form concrete wall. A spiral stair is designed to allow the maximum of daylight into the floor to ceiling walls of glass. The interior finishes are bright and airy, with white surfaces balanced by blond wood and dark metal accents.
