Santa Cruz Downtown Library

The substantial renovation of the main branch of the Santa Cruz Pubic Libraries system will demolish the existing 1960’s facility down to the structure, and re-imagine the street presence, entry sequence, and programmatic configuration. What was originally a dark and inward looking building, with an excess of small compartmentalized spaces, will become a light filled and open modern library with strong connections to the adjacent City Hall civic complex and the vibrant Santa Cruz downtown neighborhood.
