Los Gatos Library

The LEED Gold Los Gatos Library was designed to compliment the adjacent Civic Center, a 1960’s masonry structure built partially below grade. They both share a simple bi-axial layout, with circulation paths converging on a new shared outdoor plaza. The Los Gatos Library serves as the inverse of the Civic Center, full of sunlight and connection to the outdoor environment in contrast to the low slung Civic Center.  At night the building glows like a lantern, inviting people inside. The two buildings combine to provide a civic core for the community.
